A. Collier Smyth, M.D.

A. Collier Smyth, M.D., one of our directors since April 2009, most recently served as Senior Vice President of Medical Strategy – Oncology at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMS), a pharmaceutical company, from 2006 until his retirement in early 2009. While at BMS, Dr. Smyth was Senior Vice President, Medical Strategy – Oncology/Immunoscience from 2004 to 2006, Senior Vice President, Oncology Medical Affairs from 2000 to 2004, and Vice President, Oncology/Immunology Medical Affairs from 1996 to 2000. In these positions, he led oncology medical affairs in the U.S., helped launch multiple oncology drugs, and oversaw key aspects of medical strategy, clinical operations, regulatory affairs, quality assurance and compliance in the oncology division. Prior to joining BMS, Dr. Smyth served as Vice President, Medical Affairs with American Oncology Resources, Inc., now U.S. Oncology, a cancer health care network, and was the founder and president of New Hampshire Oncology / Hematology, the first office-based medical oncology practice in New Hampshire. Dr. Smyth received a B.S. degree from Lehigh University and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed his residency in medicine at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School and his oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.
