Department: Research Technology
Job Title: Staff Scientist, Enzymology, PhD.
Summary
The successful candidate will play a key role in our oncology-focused small molecule drug discovery efforts, joining an interdisciplinary research group encompassing biochemical assay, structural chemistry (X-ray and NMR), computational chemistry, structure-based drug design and cheminformatics to support our internal drug discovery efforts. He/she will lead our efforts in the development and implementation of biochemical assays, small to medium scale screening of compounds and investigation of mechanism of action by biochemical and biophysical methods. He/she will also play a leading role in the initial protein production to support multiple areas including biochemical assays, fragment screening and structural chemistry.
Duties and Responsibilities
• develop and implement biochemical assays
• study the interactions between target proteins and small molecule inhibitors
• make constructs and purify protein from various expression systems (such as bacteria and baculovirus).
Required
• Ph.D. in biochemistry, enzymology or other relevant field
• At least two years of industrial experience in small molecular drug research and development
• Experience with biochemical assays and compound screening
• Experience characterizing protein and measuring enzyme activities
• Experience in protein expression and knowledge in protein purification by chromatographic methods
• Good communication and teamwork skills
