Job Title: Senior Scientist, Discovery Biology
Description:
We are seeking Ph.D. - a level scientist to join our expanding discovery biology group. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying promising cancer drug targets and characterizing novel inhibitors with promising activity in preclinical studies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a broad array of studies to identify promising cancer targets and devise functional assays that can be used to screen for inhibitors
- Conduct studies to identify compounds with promising anti-cancer activity
- Carry out studies to understand the mechanism of action of promising inhibitors and to identify biomarkers of drug activity
- Liaise with chemistry, screening and informatics groups to produce an efficient drug discovery operation
- Generate study reports and present study results
Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of additional research experience; Industry experience is desirable
- Strong background in oncology/cancer research, with a thorough understanding of signaling pathways implicated in disease and the mechanism of action of targeted therapies
- Experience using a broad range of technologies to study disease targets, including RNAi, proteomic and genomic approaches
- Experience working with small molecule inhibitors of enzymes and/or signaling pathways would be desirable
- A very high level of motivation and a proven record of accomplishment (e.g. a strong publication record in top-tier journals)
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
