Job Title: Senior Scientist, Process Development

Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with industrial experience in chemical process development. The ideal candidate will have extensive laboratory experience in synthetic organic chemistry applied to issues of process optimization, scale up, proven acceptable range studies, and process validation. Coordination of internal and external process development at contract manufacturers will be a key function of this position, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Scope of Job Duties for Senior Scientist, Process Development

  • Lead and coordinate the research efforts of a laboratory process development group
  • Devise and execute synthetic organic chemistry experiments in process design and optimization
  • Help solve chemical process problems encountered at contract manufacturers
  • Interact with contract manufacturers to ensure successful technical transfers and manage external collaborations (requires international travel)
  • Scale up lead drug candidates in kilo-lab equipment for pre-clinical evaluation
  • Write, edit, and review technical reports to support regulatory filings
  • Communicate with internal discovery, quality, and regulatory, groups to facilitate the development of lead compounds

Job Requirements:

Background and Experience Required for Senior Scientist, Process Development

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry
  • Good knowledge of organic synthesis and experience with modern analytical and spectroscopic techniques
  • 5-10 years industrial experience in process research, or drug substance manufacturing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Functional aptitude in M.S. Office applications, electronic databases, and literature search engines such as SciFinder.
